Purpose of study.


Using Lego and Technic Lego is an inspiring, rigorous and practical approach to design, technology, Creativity and imagination. Pupils design and make their model that solve real problems. They acquire a broad range of subject knowledge and draw on disciplines such as mathematics, science and engineering. Pupils learn how to take risks, becoming resourceful, innovative, enterprising and capable. Through the evaluation of their design and building process they develop a critical understanding of its impact on life and the wider world. Using Lego and Technic Lego provides a high-quality design and technology learning environment.

By Using Lego and Technic Lego in School it will help your pupils and teachers achieve the following.....


Design: The pupils will design innovative, functional models that are fit for purpose.

Generate, develop, model and communicate their ideas through discussion and follow on activities of annotated sketches and diagrams.


Make: Using Lego and Technic Lego the pupils will select from a wide range of components according to their functional properties and aesthetic qualities.


Evaluate: The pupils will evaluate their ideas and model against the design criteria and consider the views of others to improve their work.


Technical Knowledge: Pupils will apply their understanding of how to strengthen and reinforce more complex structures, understand and use mechanical systems including batteries, motors and gears.
